Creative Recovery Project Update

This week I visited the site at Tonimbuk where Jon Volta, an engineer from Gembrook has just finished making and assembling the panels designed by me with input from the locals affected by the 2019 fire in the Bunyip State forest area. Each panel is approximately 1x1 metre in size, is of Corten steel on Corten Steel posts, and is visually enhanced by perforated zinc at the rear.

Images depict the surrounding landscape, flora and fauna and Mt. Cannibal.

This was part of my role as a Creative Recovery Facilitator for the Cardinia Shire and the Arts Council of Australia.

The works and other panels designed by fellow Facilitator Janine Good at the Cannibal Creek Reserve, Garfield North will be officially launched on Sunday 28th August 2022.

Spotted gum trunks

Summer rain is so much appreciated, none more so than in the garden. All my garden is planted from a cleared paddock that once had tall trees and ferns. Only after Summer rain do we get the colours enhanced on the spotted gum trunks. This is just before the bark peels off. I have tried, but cannot capture this in my painting.

What’s on Cardinia Festival - Art at the Independent Gembrook

I had the pleasure of taking part in the What’s on Cardinia Festival at The Independent Gembrook on the 24th February. The Independent is known for its display of original artworks, including those of fellow Gembrook artist John Krywokulski and the Argentinian works of chef Mauro Callegari's father.

I produced these artworks specially for the occasion over a few years and spoke about some of my recent works which were on display. 25 attendees enjoyed exploring the retro building (formerly a motor garage) and discussion of a variety of artworks.
